Fritz Fulton was a pillar of strength and inspiration in the Aurora Public Schools community for over 25 years. Born into a loving family, Fritz was the son of Joanne Perna and Russ Fulton, and stepson to Dee Dee Fulton, who were all educators in the Poudre School District in Fort Collins, Colorado. His upbringing instilled in him values of compassion, dedication, and the importance of education. As a dedicated physical education teacher, coach, and mentor, he left a memorable mark on the lives of countless students and athletes. His passion for teaching and sports, particularly track and field, created an environment where students thrived both academically and athletically.
Fritz's coaching career spanned across middle school and high school levels, where he not only imparted valuable skills but also instilled in his athletes the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. His coaching style was characterized by encouragement and motivation, earning him the admiration and respect of his students and fellow educators alike.
Beyond the classroom and sports field, Fritz was known for his positive influence on the entire school community. Administrators, teachers, students, and friends all held him in high regard, recognizing his unwavering commitment to the betterment of those around him. His warm demeanor, approachability, and genuine care for others created a supportive atmosphere that fostered growth and success.
Fritz's personal life was equally remarkable. He shared a loving and enduring bond with his wife of 32 years, Nancy. Together, they navigated the challenges of life and celebrated its joys. As a father to triplets – Catherine, John, and Elizabeth – Fritz embraced the responsibilities and joys of parenthood with the same dedication and enthusiasm that he brought to his teaching and coaching roles.
An interesting facet of Fritz's life was his unique talent for playing golf left and right handed. This skill showcased his versatility and added an element of fun to his interactions with friends and family on the golf course.
Tragically, Fritz faced a formidable opponent in the form of colon cancer. Despite his valiant fight, he ultimately succumbed to the illness on February 3, 2022. His passing left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, and his absence is deeply felt by the entire community.
Fritz's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the positive impact he made in the Aurora Public Schools. His memory is cherished by friends, colleagues, students, and family alike. Though he is no longer physically present, the lessons he imparted and the values he instilled continue to inspire and guide those fortunate enough to have been a part of his life. Fritz is remembered as a beloved teacher, coach, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and resilience.
